Municipality employees and reperesentatives of schools and kindergartens of the South Transdanubian Region were invited to a participative forum on sustainable energy in December 2014.

The two day long workshop session organised in cooperation with the Mecsek-Völgység-Hegyhát LEADER Local Action Group in Szászvár provided a great platform for the participants to exchange their opinions on the joint Sustainable Energy Action Plan of the 16 municipalities and discuss the implementation of the actions proposed.

On the first day of the event, teachers and kindergarteners were invited to participate at a participative workshop focusing on climate change, adaptation, energy efficiency measures and renewable energies. Booklets and teaching materials for different age groups were handed over to participants. The education experts of Energiaklub presented several techniques that help to demonstrate issues related to sustainable energy management and climate change for children of different age.

At the second day of the workshop session another target group was addressed. Energy experts and building operators of the municipalities were asked to share their ideas on the development of the region. Presentations on the joint SEAP of the „Mecseki Energiakör”, Financing on renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, as well as green public procurement were held. Participants were given the floor to ask their questions on the action plan and the measurements recommended. These two days were not only successful in extending the knowledge of participants, but also provided a great opportunity for the representatives of the target region to get to know each other better and to lay foundations for further cooperations.
