Renewable energy road show in the South Transdanubian region
Energiaklub Climate Policy Institute and Community Energy Scotland organised three face-to-face meetings in the South Transdanubian region in the framework of the „Towards 100% RES Communities project”. The expert team from Dumfries&Galloway visited Hungary in January 2015 for the third time.
Visits to renewable energy investments, such as biogas and biomass plants or a geothermal energy DH system were parts of the programmes of the face-to-face meetings, to give a clear view on renewable energy potentials of the target region for the experts assisting the participating municipalities. Technical workshops with presentations of both Scottish and Hungarian experts were held at all of the face-to-face meetings to provide platform for the exchange of experience between the representatives of the learning and experienced partner.
The third face-to-face meeting focused mainly on the results achieved with the support of the project. Members of the both regions took part at technical workshop in Alsómocsolád one of the front-running communities in the field of renewable energies from the group. Presentations held at the event focussed on financing and ideas for further projects.
An important goal of the face-to-face meeting was to encourage the involvement of other local authorities from the region into the 100% RES-dynamic. To enhance the knowledge transfer, experts from both Scotland and Hungary gave presentations at a workshop organised in Medina.
After this workshop the delegation visited Bóly, a little town that was awarded at the RES League in 2012 for its compelling results in the field of renewable energy projects. The mayor, József Hárs presented the geothermal district heating system and solar investements of the town and discussed his plans for further RES investments with the expert team.
Community Energy Scotland and Energiaklub throughout this project have undertaken to maintain regular contact. Mentoring and communication utilized skype, email and the phone. Additional discussions continued during the regular project meetings. Political leaders have all expressed their thanks to the partners for their illuminating programmes and guidance.
