In June 2014 the nation-wide 100% Renewable Energy Regions Network officially joined the European RURENER network. So, just a few months later, on the 11th and 12th November 2014, the first annual meeting of German 100% Renewable Energy Sources Regions took place in Kassel as part of the conference of the same name, the “100% Renewable Energy Sources Regions Conference”, also under the auspices of RURENER.

RURENER itself was represented by Christelle LEFEVRE and by RURENER’s own stand at the conference exhibition.

The nation-wide 100% RES Network has again increased in size. At the Conference, 8 new German regions were incorporated into the network. Six of these have achieved the status of 100% RES Region: the Rural Districts of Borken, Lüneburg, Emsland and Waldeck-Frankenberg, plus the Cities of Landshut and Bad Säckingen. The Rural Districts of Hildesheim and Karlsruhe are now 100% RES Starter Regions. So far there are 146 communes and regions in Germany that have set themselves the goal of 100% RES.

In Europe the German communes also have their noses in front. This year as many as 11 German communes have made it onto the European map of 1000% RES Communities.
As part of the Conference they received the 100% RES Communities Seal. Because of this and thanks to the 100% RES Communities and to RURENER, the 100% RES Regions Network is attracting growing attention at the European level.
